Our hotel restaurant is located in the heart of La Roque Gageac

We are located at the entrance of the village of Vitrac opposite the car park and the pier for barges.
We have reserved parking for our customers.

Sarlat-la-Canéda and Brive-la-Gaillarde are respectively 10 km and 70 km.

To come in Perigord and reach our hotel, you can either use the plane, train or car.

By plane, the nearest airports are: Bergerac Dordogne Perigord airport or the airport of Brive Dordogne Valley

A train arrives from Bordeaux to Sarlat station every day, and many others come from Paris or Toulouse in Souillac station (30km) or Tar (25km)

By car, the A89 motorway from Bordeaux reaches Périgueux and the A20 from Paris and Toulouse arrived in Souillac

At the edge of the River Dordogne, La Roque Gageac is an exceptional site, in the shelter of a cliff.

At the heart of man the country, the village of La Roque Gageac is, since prehistoric times, a place where everything comes together for an enjoyable life.

A Roman road crosses the Vitrac to join the paths of Compostela.

From the ninth century Vitrac turns into fortress for protection from Viking

In the Middle Ages, and ecclesiastical notables settled in Sarlat la Roque Gageac.

After the revolution the boats are appearing on the Dordogne River.

The Gabarres

The Gabarres are a mode of transport on the Dordogne from the Middle Ages to today.

Indeed, after the French Revolution, the transportation of wood, iron, wine and salt was effected through Barges (flat bottomed boat) and made the city an active port Dordogne. The boatmen descended to Bergerac, Bordeaux and Libourne haulers and used the services for the ascent of the river.
The appearance of the railway will gradually lead to the disappearance of the boatmen.

Today they carry tourists come to discover our Perigord and is aisnsi you can enjoy a stroll hour from La Roque Gageac, opposite our hotel.
